Centre for Critical Heritage Studies as a collaborate project

The University

Interdisciplinarity and border-crossing are the most important features of Centre for Critical Heritage Studies (CCHS) activities, both within the University and outside.

At the University, four Faculties play central roles: The Faculty of Social Sciences; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Art. Centre for Critical Heritage Studies networks and activities are however not restrcted to these institutions and we aim to further develop our relationships with other parts of the University.

Regional/National

A central objective for the CCHS is to develop the collaborative capacity for dialouges with society, and particularly with the Västra Götaland region and its museums and heritage sites. The Heritage Academy is a formalisation of this objective.

International

Centre for Critical Heritage Studies at the University of Gothenburg is an important actor in the international Association of Critical Heritage Studies.

CCHS is one of the partners in the large-scale, interdisciplinary, EU-funded project NEARCH (New scenarios for a community-involved archaeology). NEARCH focuses on six different themes, where CHS is mainly involved in the theme Archaeology and the imaginary: crossroads between science and art.

CCHS is one of the partners in the CHEurope program which is a PhD training program supported by the EU under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) - Innovative Training Networks (ITN). CHEurope is the result of a collaboration between universities and heritage institutions in Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Belgium and Italy. Read more here.
