Cultural heritage is the reworking of the past in the present. Critical Heritage Studies (CHS) at the University of Gothenburg has been a priority research area between 2010-2015, devoted to critical and interdisciplinary studies of the many layers of cultural heritage as a material, intangible, emotional and intellectual field. From April 1st 2016 we are estabished as a new Centre for Critical Heritage Studies at the University of Gothenburg (CCHS). We are also happy to be able to extend our collaboration with University College London (UCL), as partner for the coming six years, which is a positive effect of restructuring our organization as a center.
CCHS activites at the University are framed in four research areas, formalized as clusters:
Critical Heritage Studies aim to be an open, dynamic research environment with an international outlook, and we invite collaboration. If you are a researcher or a practitioner and are interested in our activities, please contact Director Kristian Kristiansen, or the coordinators of the Clusters and the Heritage Academy directly. We particularly welcome students to participate in our open events and to contact us for further information. E-mail CCHS' research administrator.
